Cultivating my Yang, this one's a must read!

The Bingo Theory was an excellent read. I was very recently introduced to the theory of masculine and feminine energies and the way that they relate to the yin and yang of the Chinese tradition by my psychologist. This book was a simple introduction into a bigger concept and helped me to understand the concept and apply it to my life. According to "The Bingo Theory", we all have both masculine and feminine energies, but usually one is stronger and it overpowers the other energy, and that's how we become imbalanced. This book helps you to first discover which energy is stronger in you (are you a "masculine strength female" or a "feminine strength female”?), and how to find a happy balance where you are competitive and courageous but also kind, goal driven and focused with a purpose. This book was also a great follow up to the book “An Urban Monk” by Pedram Shojai that I had just finished. It was an absolute must read for me and I will use its guidance to transform my life and my relationships.

It opened my eyes and my heart

I have been watching Mimis and Alex videos for quite a long time now , and I was really excited to hear that Mimi would write a book about relationships as their relationship is so effortless yet loving and understanding-from the outside. I have to admit , at first I had a wrong impression about Mimi's life- I thought that everything was so perfect and that the success came easily for her- but I was wrong. As I watched more videos, I've learnt that Mimi is such an inspiring and passionate human being- you can even notice the sparkle in her eyes when she talks about something she loves or is passionate about. Especially her videos about how to be happy or how to deal with negativity helped me in a phase in my life, where I felt lost and buried myself in self-misery. As I am now in a long relationship , I still have not figured out how to have a good relationship with myself. That is also why I ordered the bingo theory- to learn more about myself and my inner feminine and masculine energies. I think that many people struggle to connect with their inner energy- as they are taught by society, school or even upbrining and parents on how to behave depending on your biological gender and what to think. For many years I felt that I was a feminine strength female- as I always found it hard to stand up for myself and always let go when I was in an argument. But I learned through this book that I am actually a masculine strength female as I have a very ambitious and independent mindset, but sometimes I find it hard to stop and just relax. I think the bingo theory gives you the best insight on how to balance those two energies and also to find out which one is dominant. Now that I've found out which is my actual strength energy, I will put my effort to become a bingo. I know it will be a long way until then, but the best motivation is that I have then inner peace with myself and accept myself and start loving myself for who I am- I know it sounds egoistic- but first you have to love yourself in order to love others.Mimi I want to thank you for this inspiring and helpful book you created, for sharing your ideas and beliefs not only through videos but also in a physical form. I hope that you will continue your writing-career in the future and wish you all the best !
P.S. I really recommend this book for everyone- it is a real eye-opener and will help you to develop a balance with yourself and at a daily basis with others.

Being balanced and Mimi's aurea mediocritas

The topic of the book is timeless, because it talks about being balanced. The Mimi's concept is mostly related to the relationahips - with others or ourselves, so that is why this is the main subject of the book. I am grateful she decided to share this theory with the world, since it can help so many people to improve their relationships with others and themselves. I've been reading a lot of self-improvement books, because it's one of my favourite kind and Mimi's work is definitely one of those books which has joined to my books of value, meaning to those making me realise something which has the major impact on my life. "The Bingo Theory" made me realise how important is to be aware of the strength energy we have in order to be balanced and thus make better decisions in our lives concerning mainly relationships, but also our career, health, well-being and so on.
I appreciate this book, because apart from the theoretical aspect of the concept, Mimi shares her aurea mediocritas to put the theory, what I would call "the awareness", into practice - even if some of her advices seem down-to-earth, like changing a light-bulb or assemble a piece of furniture on our own in order to feel more confident and in control of our life, they are very telling examples. Sometimes smaller illustrations make us realise something big. That is what I appreciate the most in this kind of books. I would recommend this book to everyone aiming to be balanced in various aspects in life in today's world and I am sure that he will find something which will work for him personally. "The books that help you most are those which make you think the most. The hardest way of learning is that of easy reading; but a great book that comes from a great thinker is a ship of thought, deep freighted with truth and beauty". I think these words of Pablo Neruda perfectly fit Mimi and her book.

This book was required reading for a college philosophy class. Unlike other boring textbooks, Salmon's unique approach to teaching critical thinking encourages classroom discussion and the application of practical situations. Each topic is related in text to many real-life examples, famous literary works, and quotes from the great philosophers. This "worldliness" makes Critical Thinking not only interesting, but actively engages the reader.

In a small aspect, a few examples may seem opinionated. When an example quoting the Bible was being debated in class as fallacious, my professor commented, "I like this book... it pushes buttons!"

The most important aspect is that the information will help you in any career. Whether a doctor, lawyer, business person, engineer, or even a scientist, these Critical Thinking concepts can be applied to many situations. You will be surprised how inductive reasoning can be applied to uncover new information. The topics of deductive reasoning can help construct better arguments for debating. About the Author
Bouthania Shaaban has been professor of English literature at Damascus University since 1985. Valuable insight into the thought of Syria's Hafez al Assad

Very readable, personal account of the flurry of peace talks in the 90s, and especially the Assad-Clinton relationship. Though the talks came to nothing, there is important and rare insight into the late President Hafez al Assad, from his translator Dr Bouthaina Shaaban, now adviser to President Bashar al Assad.

Damascus Diary - a disappointment

I think this subject needs to be tackled again and with stronger editorial control to bring the narrative up to standard. It was a very disappointing summary, bordering on simplistic, with no revelations at all. The sources referenced and footnotes would probably be of most value to any reader/researcher who wanted to investigate the issues further. There was too much subjectivity from the author. The author does need to understand that she should fade into the background and let the issue come out front, with more balance included. The few photographs included were disinteresting and I did not need to see the author/interpreter referenced in each one. The book is certainly not worth the price being charged. I came away with a sense of someone who was star-struck by Hafez-al Assad and this fed into the account too strongly. Most people know the reality of trying to stay in power for Assad included a darker side than portrayed here.

Gurcharan Das is an author, public intellectual, and commenter.

India Unbound: From Independence to the Global Information Age, The Difficulty of Being Good: On the Subtle Art of Dharma, India Grows at Night: A Liberal Case for a Strong State, and A Fine Family are among the books he s written.

Gurcharan Das was born in the year 1943 in Lyallpur, India, which is now in Pakistan. His family fled to India as refugees post-independence. He graduated from Harvard University with honors in philosophy and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Das joined Richardson Hindustan Ltd as a trainee and in a span of 4 years became the chairman and managing director. He then joined Procter & Gamble, where he was, at different times, the CEO and Vice President. After a 30-year career, Das retired and began writing full-time. He has written for several prominent media houses, such as The New York Times, The Times of India, Newsweek, TIME, The Wall Street Journal, and Foreign Affairs.

The Problem with the Elephant

Gurcharan Das is a famous author in India. The book 'The Elephant Paradigm', however, does not do justice to his fame. One, and perhaps not very importantly, the book is a compilation of short articles. More seriously, are the facts that Das has a clear case of 'America envy' and is a man who has a hammer that he will use everywhere. The book is full of references to the US (why should a book on India need references to the US to be legitimate is beyond me!), and most references do not adequately portray the challenges America is facing. Instead, they sugar-coat American problems, and present the American Way as the solution for Indian problems. Das has been trained in Harvard business school, and worked for large multinational companies like P&G, which means that he has been trained to think that government intervention is the cause for all problems, and free markets the solution to everything. Das uses the free-market hammer to strike at every problem that comes up in the book. I wish Das had been able to take a more neutral stand towards serious problems, and acknowledge the challenges and benefits of different solutions.
