About the Author
Richard B. Woodward is a New York based arts critic who contributes regularly to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. His journalism has appeared in numerous publications, from The Atlantic, Bookforum, Film Comment, The American Scholar, and The New Yorker to Vanity Fair, Interview, and Vogue. His essays on art and photography have been featured in more than 20 monographs and museum catalogs.

Reuel Golden graduated in politics from the University of Sussex, UK, and is the former editor of the British Journal of Photography. He has edited various titles for TASCHEN including The Rolling Stones, Her Majesty, Harry Benson: The Beatles, Age of Innocence: Football in the 1970s, and the New York and London editions of the Portrait of a City series.

WORK OF ART!

This book just arrived and it is stunning! It has a double front cover - which makes the whole thing look like a book wrapped in a box. It is very heavy, oversized, and stands on it's own as a work of art. Perfect as a decorative accent in any interior space. The photographs themselves are amazing, and of very high quality. An absolute must for any Warhol fan, and a great purchase for anyone who appreciates great art which is beautifully presented. This book is truly something special and honors one of the greatest artists of our time in a bold (yet elegant) way. Nicely done Taschen!

Essential for Andy Warhol Fans

Heaviest book of the year! When this book arrived in the mail I knew it was a book but couldn't begin to guess what could be so heavy. What a surprise to see it was Andy Warhol Polaroids (Taschen). This massive volume comes in at a large 10x13 inches and 560 pages. Literally hundreds of polaroids taken by Andy Warhol are presented in full color. The polaroids are presented as objects so you see not only the image but the white border or the polaroid as well. There is a mixture of polaroids that are reproduced at actual size, and then some are at smaller size several to a page. The editors have done a good job of making sure the key portraits get full size treatment, and when they show a sequence of polaroids of the same person you will get one at full size with the others smaller. Reproduction quality is very good and the hardcover binding/presentation is sturdy and impressive in design. For Warhol fans this is the essential Polaroids book. Highly recomended!

About the Author

A Challenging and Compassionate Call to Holiness

Signature Sins

In my Christian life and ministry I often find myself asking this question about sin: Where do I need repentance? Where do I need healing? Am I really growing in my relationship with God - or am I just putting a positive spin on my inner life? How do I help the people I minister to confront their sin in a way that leads to life?

Signature Sins provides helpful insights into both holiness and wholeness. It takes sin seriously as human rebellion against a good and just God. It also acknowledges that sinners have also been sinned against, and that our emotional wounds can create particular patterns of sin that are unique to each individual. Dr. Mangis applies Biblical truth, the classical vices and virtues, and spiritual disciplines to the emotional and spiritual life of human beings. He does this in a way that helps us to overcome our blindness to our own sin and to find both healing and a path to holiness.

The book includes after each chapter thought-provoking questions for reflection and discussion. I profited from it in my personal reading and expect it would be an excellent tool for a book group. I plan to read it again as my Lenten discipline. A compassionate and insightful book that will encourage true holiness both in ourselves and those we serve.

Insightful and Helpful for Personal and Spiritual Growth

As a doctoral student in clinical psychology, I had the privilege of seeing this book in its many forms as it went through the writing and editing process. The end result is a text that incorporates the rich domains of spiritual direction and holiness with a psychologically sensitive and informed perspective.

Drawing on decades of experience as a professor, therapist, mentor, and spiritual seeker himself, Dr. Mangis brings together his multiple domains of knowledge to help the reader understand her personal cyclical struggles with sins. The reader gains an understanding of how personal psychological and cultural factors such as family of origin, biology, temperament, ethnicity, etc. contribute to and help to maintain each of our own personal struggles. He exposes subtleties of sinfulness and struggle that, on most days, we would all like to ignore or avoid.

However, this is not a doom and gloom expose of how utterly wretched we all are. Few of us need reminders to feel poorly of ourselves. Rather, Dr. Mangis, provides hope for personal and communal spiritual growth by pointing the reader toward spiritual disciplines that reshape, relieve, and heal. Hard to find title, excellent info

This is chocked full of wonderful information that is still relevant all of these years later. It is easy to read, not like your average text or subject book that bores you to death. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in mining or in geology 101. The pages have been scanned and some are hard to read but not impossible and it doesn't deter from the subject at all. I give this an A+. So far, on my quest to be more knowledgeable about mining and the earth's crust and what in the world these rocks I love are made of and mean....I am much more smarter for having read this old book than anything else out there other than Geology for DUMMIES!

another book about how 'anything is possible', 'how to be amazing', and all that. We've heard it all before. Yawn. This book is weak, with second-hand thoughts and no real, personal insight, just rehashed material you've read again. And yet again, the testimonials are from other phony authors who wrote similar books. I guess they all help each others.

I give this book a 5 star rating as it was without doubt one of the Quickest and easiest personal development books I have read. Michael gets straight to the point , without getting too technical and has written this book in a way that any ordinary person can clearly understand, identify with and walk away at the end of the book with a shift in mindset. I started to read this book at 7.30pm when I got in from work on the day it was delivered and could not put it down. I finished reading it in 4 hours that very same evening.

Truly Amazing!

There are so many self-help books on the market these days. Problem No.1: Which one to choose? Problem No.2: Aren't they all saying the same thing anyway i.e. stuff you know already just packaged in psychobabble?

I'll admit it, though I'm very much into self-development, I tend to fall into the cynical camp on these questions (partly because I've bought so many self-help books). But I'm happy to say this book has completely changed my mind.

No psychobabble - just plain talking served up in easily digestible chunks from someone who obviously knows what he's talking about, based on a wealth of experience.

But to say that sells the book short. So many times you get the 'Aha' effect: 'Yes, that's so true! And you've made the point beautifully.' Michael has a rare gift for making complex human behaviour simple. And his warmth and wit sparkles on every page. But his style is also refreshingly crisp and 'no-nonsense'. The book says 'No B/S' and it delivers.

Overall this book is an absolute joy to read - I felt a surge of positive energy when I'd finished :) - and an invaluable practical resource. Don't settle for the 'Good' life when you can have a truly 'Amazing' one!

Not exactly Tung's acupuncture

Sorry to say that, I just purchased three books by this author, "the best of master tung", "acupuncture for internal medicine disorders " and acupuncture for pain" and these are basically the same book with some changes in the last 50 pages in relation to treatment protocols.

I took a few webinar witb Susan Johnson and am using the Tung's acupuncture books that were written by Dr. Wei chia young which are authentic and have a direct lineage to Master Tung's teachings.

I have a few issues with Dr. Chu's books.
1. Too much self advertising and self glorification.
2. Repeating content - not having a real value in relation to what is advertised on the book's title.
3. Knowledge doesn't seem to be authentic - it will probably work but not accurate enough to be Tung's style.
4. Not even attempting to have a diagnostic or theoretical explanation to why we are using the points.
5. This seems to be more Dr. Chu personal interpretation of this style.

This is just my humble opinion, I apologize if I offended anyone.

I thought this was an outstanding book on the application of Tung's acupuncture. This is what I would call a true clinical desk reference. Fantastic Skills Book!

Praise for Taylor's Skills book!

Having gone through nursing school (graduated May 2010 RN now), I was always annoyed at the lack of good skills books on the market. We had to use Potter and Perry through school. P & P wasn't a bad book per se, it was just TOO MUCH INFO! I know, I know, how can too much info be a bad thing? Well, when you fall asleep halfway through reading a skill, that's how. And the lack of pictures was annoying too. Enter Taylor's...fantastic! It is written in such a smooth manner, you will feel like someone is standing next to you, walking you through everything. It is up to date, there are a plethora of pictures, AND you get an access code to watch certain skills online! The layout is perfect, the pages are not paper thin like P & P, and it's a sturdy book. The only complaint I have is that the accompanying CD is bound in the inside front cover. The publisher should put it in the back in the future. You have to cut out the CD package to get the book to fully open up. Kind of annoying, but, that's really the only complaint I have. I am beyond pleased.

This book is helpful and has good illustrations, but some skills or details of skills are missing or are not clear... but if anyone wants the video portion, you might want to try going to

LEARNERSTV look up nursing and medical. MANY excellent teaching skills videos.

Also, youtube has a lot of excellent videos... try HAWKNURSE channel

or NURSECENTRAL on youtube just to name a few.

There are about 152 videos there which are excellent and show similar techniques to the Taylor book. I had the Taylor text for classes, but would not highly recommend the videos as they tried to ad extra story lines and jokes and you really don't want to hear or see those when you are watching it for the second time or want just the facts in a straightforward way that won't distract or waste you precious time. The drama gets a bit tiring the second time around.

I used this text for my ASN from Excelsior College and could not have been happier. This text, along with the accompanying Clinical Skills Checklists Workbook, was invaluable to teaching clinical nursing skills needed to pass the CPNE.

I can honestly say that, not only were these two texts extremely useful during my training & education, but that I will use these texts to further clarify & develop my nursing skills.

About the Author
Carlos Coronel is currently the Lab Director for the College of Business Computer Labs at Middle Tennessee State University. He has more than 29 years of experience in various fields as a Database Administrator, Network Administrator, Web Manager, and Technology Specialist. He has taught courses in Web development, database design and development, and data communications at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Steven Morris completed his Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. from Auburn University. He has taught courses in Database Design and Development, Database Programming with Advanced SQL and PL/SQL, Systems Analysis and Design, and Database Management at the graduate and undergraduate levels at Middle Tennessee State University. He has many years of experience consulting on a database projects across a broad range of industries. Dr. Morris has published numerous professional articles and has served on the review boards of several journals.
